Brittany Renner is no longer practicing the teachings of Islam after her quickie Islamic “divorce” from rapper Kevin Gates.
In a new video on her Instagram page, Brittany removed her hijab for the first time since her divorce to reveal a head full of beautiful curly hair.
She wrote on the video intro: “I wore cornrows underneath my hijab just so my hair could fit in it.”
In the video caption, she explained that she no longer has “blind loyalty” to Kevin or his faith.
“I don’t have blind loyalty to any person, place, or thing. I also don’t need excuses to do what I want to do because I accept whatever comes behind my decisions,” she wrote. “It’s still Alhamdulillah for everything! Hope this helps.”

Brittany previously converted to Islam in accordance with Kevin’s Muslim faith. “We got married April 6 and divorced May 28,” she told radio station REAL 92.3 in Los Angeles.
Their marriage was not officially recognized in a U.S. court of law.
“There is a 90 day waiting period in Islam, where you have 90 days to see if you’re pregnant because then he would be responsible,” Brittany explained.
“But also in those 90 days, it’s for recommendation because the law wants you to stay married. And during those 90 days, you are not to entertain anybody romantically.”
She continued: “So, what I will say is Islam has made my life easier. Honestly, I don’t think anybody gets married to not stay married. So this is a nice 90 day reset, just focusing on myself.”
A hijab is a veil that covers the woman’s head and part of her body. She must wear a hijab in the company of men because the garment symbolizes modesty and respectability for herself.
It is considered disrespectful for a Muslim woman to remove her hijab in public. Muslim women in some U.S. states are allowed to wear their hijabs in driver’s license photos and mugshots.
Brittany and Kevin ended their Islamic marriage after 52 days when she didn’t fall pregnant. Kevin, 39, is already married to Dreka Gates, the mother of his 2 children.
A Muslim husband take as many wives as he wants – as long as he can afford them. But a Muslim woman can only be married to one man.
