Charlie Kirk’s parents made a rare public appearance Monday as they arrived at a Utah courthouse for a crucial hearing in the case against the man accused of killing their son.
Robert and Kathryn Kirk walked arm in arm into the Fourth District Courthouse in Provo, where Tyler Robinson is facing charges in the fatal shooting of the conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder.
The hearing marked the first time Kirk’s family was expected to be in the same courtroom as Robinson, the 23-year-old accused of assassinating him during a campus appearance at Utah Valley University last September.
Before Kirk became one of the most recognizable conservative voices in America and a close ally of President Donald Trump, he was raised by his parents in Illinois.
Kirk’s mother, Kathryn, reportedly worked as a mental health counselor.
His father, Robert, worked in construction and owned an architecture firm.
Robert Kirk’s resume reportedly included work as a project architect manager on Trump Tower in Manhattan.
The family has largely stayed out of the public spotlight since Kirk’s killing, even as the case has drawn national attention from conservatives, political figures and media outlets across the country.

After Kirk’s death, Sen. Marsha Blackburn posted a photo with his parents when Trump honored Charlie with a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom in October.
Tyler Robinson is charged with aggravated murder and other counts tied to the shooting.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty if he is convicted.
This week’s preliminary hearing is expected to determine whether prosecutors have enough evidence to move the case toward trial.
Authorities have said they plan to present evidence including video footage, forensic findings, DNA evidence and statements tied to the alleged attack.
Kirk was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University during a public event, sending shock waves through the conservative movement he helped build.
The killing turned Kirk, already one of the right’s most influential young organizers, into a martyr figure for many of his supporters.
His parents’ arrival at court underscored the deeply personal toll behind a case that has become a national political flashpoint.
For Robert and Kathryn Kirk, the hearing was not about headlines or politics.
It was about facing the man accused of taking their son’s life.
