The FBI has located or identified nearly 6,000 child victims as part of a sweeping national crackdown on online networks targeting young children.
According to officials, arrests connected to these investigations have increased by more than 500 percent as federal agents intensify efforts against what they describe as a growing and highly dangerous form of online extremism.
Kash Patel, a former federal prosecutor and national security official who has been involved in supporting the effort, said the operation represents one of the most critical child-protection missions in the country. “This is among the most important issues in America and we won’t stop working,” he said.
Authorities say the criminals involved are connected to what the FBI categorizes as “Nihilistic Violent Extremism,” a disturbing ideology linked to severe online abuse and the targeting of minors.
More than 300 current cases are tied to the group known as the “764 network,” which has been under federal investigation across multiple states.
Federal officials say the surge in arrests reflects both expanded resources and an increased focus on dismantling the online infrastructure that enables these crimes. The investigations remain ongoing as agents continue to identify additional victims and suspects nationwide.
