Jacksonville Dad Pleads Guilty to Killing Five-week-old Son

A Jacksonville father will spend at least 10 years in state prison for killing his infant son.

Nicholas Snear on Wednesday pleaded guilty to second degree murder in Onslow County Superior Court.

The D.A.’s Office says Liam Snear was killed back in November 2021 on Armstrong Drive in Jacksonville. At the time, Snear was an active-duty Marine.

The baby’s father told police that the child had fallen off the living room couch, but an autopsy showed the baby had a large, visible injury on the back of his head, not consistent with a fall from a couch.

A judge sentenced Snear to serve between 10 years, five months, and 13 1/2 years in state prison.
