Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) doubled down on new allegations while speaking live from the U.S. Capitol, claiming that members of President Biden’s inner circle had been “cashing in” on the federal pardon process.
Burchett pointed to the unusually high number of clemency actions signed during Biden’s final hours in office.
“Come on… 8,000 pardons?” Burchett said. “The guy can’t remember what he ate for breakfast, but we’re supposed to believe he personally reviewed eight THOUSAND files? Give me a break. This whole thing reeks.”
The congressman suggested that Biden’s inner circle may have exploited the pardon system for personal gain, calling for a formal investigation into how the clemency decisions were processed and who handled the bulk of the paperwork.
Burchett has been one of the most vocal Republican lawmakers pushing for transparency surrounding Biden’s final actions as president. His comments add pressure on House committees that are already weighing whether to open inquiries into the administration’s pardon review procedures.
As of now, no direct evidence has been released publicly to support the claim, but Burchett insists more details will emerge as congressional investigators continue digging.
