President Donald Trump playfully told a schoolgirl she was “fully pardoned” after learning she received detention for skipping class to attend one of his speeches.
During the exchange, Trump said, “You are FULLY pardoned! Tell your teacher I said it’s fine!” — drawing laughter from the crowd.
While presidential pardon powers apply only to federal offenses, Trump’s remark was clearly made in jest and carried no legal authority over school disciplinary actions.
