MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The massive Minnesota fraud scandal has escalated dramatically as President Trump’s Small Business Administration (SBA) confirmed it is now widening its probe to examine the entire state after uncovering evidence of widespread, systemic abuse of government aid programs.
The development follows earlier disclosures that the Biden administration failed to properly investigate or flag fraudulent activity in Minnesota—despite Biden’s own Attorney General, Merrick Garland, previously calling it “the largest pandemic relief fraud scheme in U.S. history.”
Under President Trump, federal officials say the investigation is expanding because the scope of the scheme appears far deeper than originally reported.
“It appears this fraud ring is being perpetrated across all types of government assistance meant for hungry families, people needing housing, and young children needing education. And it’s being exploited,” a Trump SBA official said.
Sources close to the investigation say the number of fraudulent cases is expected to “go up significantly” as the Trump administration digs into programs that the Biden team allegedly overlooked, ignored, or improperly cleared during the pandemic years.
The renewed scrutiny comes as Minnesota continues to face nationwide criticism following the “Feeding Our Future” scandal — a massive multimillion-dollar fraud operation that grew under the Biden administration’s watch.
Trump officials are framing the widening probe as part of the President’s larger promise to root out corruption in states that mismanaged federal aid during the pandemic.
The findings could have sweeping implications for Minnesota state leadership, including Governor Tim Walz, whose administration has been under fire for years for failing to catch the fraud.
For the first time, federal investigators say they have the authority, leadership, and mandate to expose every layer of wrongdoing — thanks to President Trump.
