President Trump has urged the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate the Jeffrey Epstein case following persistent pressure from conservative voices, including political commentator John Solomon. The move reflects growing frustration within the MAGA movement over unanswered questions and sealed documents.
Trump signaled his support, saying through Solomon, “I think it’s a good approach… let’s get the trust of the American people, let’s get accountability and then let’s focus on the things that matter.”
The call comes amid rising tensions: while Republican influencers like Pat Bondi and Kash Patel claim there’s no “client list,” MAGA figures—including former Rep. Matt Gaetz—have demanded full transparency, citing allegations of prominent individuals involved in Epstein’s trafficking network.
Despite Trump’s earlier attempt to move past the controversy—calling it “boring”—his recent endorsement of a special prosecutor marks a shift under pressure from his base .
Supporters argue the investigation is essential to restore confidence. “Millions of Americans are not satisfied with what we’ve been told,” as Solomon put it, emphasizing “a deep desire for justice,” and urging officials to “drag these people out, weeping and begging for mercy.”
However, tensions persist within the party: House Speaker Mike Johnson backs full document disclosure, pushing for Ghislaine Maxwell to testify before Congress. Meanwhile, the Justice Department maintains there is no evidence of a client list or foul play in Epstein’s death.
Should Trump follow through, appointing a special counsel could signal a major escalation in attempts to tackle the Epstein scandal. It would also reflect a strategic pivot by the administration—from moving the public on to directly engaging with the demands of the MAGA base.
