A dramatic kidnapping attempt was caught on surveillance video last month, showing a Florida woman fiercely fighting off a suspect who tried to drag her into a stolen pickup truck — all while her chilling screams pierced the air.
The video, released by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, shows 31-year-old Theodore Michael Tundidor allegedly attempting to abduct a female employee outside a local smoke shop after a robbery on June 17.
Authorities say Tundidor had entered the store, slipped behind the counter, and grabbed approximately $270 worth of merchandise, including hemp cigarettes and vape products. When the employee tried to stop him from leaving, the situation turned violent.
Tundidor allegedly grabbed the woman by the neck, dragged her out of the store, and tried to shove her into his pickup truck. But the woman refused to give up — fighting back with everything she had and ultimately managing to break free and run.
A Good Samaritan who witnessed the struggle intervened and immediately called 911. Tundidor fled the scene in the pickup truck, which authorities later discovered had been stolen from a Jacksonville dealership.
Shortly after the attempted abduction, Florida Fish and Wildlife officers spotted the truck driving recklessly. Tundidor attempted to flee again but was apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.

He now faces multiple charges, including robbery, attempted kidnapping, and battery.
“This woman showed incredible bravery,” the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Her determination to survive and the quick action of a witness helped bring this dangerous individual into custody.”
Tundidor remains in jail as the investigation continues.
