VIDEO: Women Report Feeling Safer on D.C. Metro as National Guard Presence Increases

Several women in Washington, D.C., say they feel significantly safer using the city’s Metro system following a heightened National Guard presence ordered under President Trump’s public safety initiatives.

According to comments circulating online, riders have noted a visible improvement in security on trains and platforms. One woman stated that “women feel a lot safer,” adding that the Guard members “are not here to intimidate anyone but criminals.”

The deployment comes amid broader federal efforts to reduce violent crime and restore public confidence in public transit systems nationwide. Local and federal officials have not released updated crime data tied directly to the increased presence, but public feedback suggests many riders are welcoming the added protection.

The National Guard personnel are stationed across key Metro stops as part of an ongoing strategy to deter crime and support law enforcement.
