VIDEO: Jeffries Suggests Legal Action Could Be Taken Against Trump Allies if Democrats Regain Power

WASHINGTON — House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries has warned that if Democrats reclaim control of the House, he expects the Department of Justice to begin investigations and possible prosecutions targeting supporters and allies of Donald Trump.

In a recent television interview, Jeffries said there are individuals within the Trump administration and among its political allies whom he described as “corrupt sycophants,” and he argued that they “don’t have immunity.” He added that under existing law — with a statute of limitations of five years — those responsible “will be held accountable.”

Jeffries did not name specific individuals or charges, but he referred broadly to alleged misconduct tied to the Trump administration. The remarks come amid mounting tensions between Democratic lawmakers and the current administration, especially over recent use of federal prosecutorial powers against former officials and political opponents.

Civil-liberties advocates and Republican critics have responded with concern, arguing that such statements risk politicizing the justice system and could lead to what they call “purge politics.”
