VIDEO: Los Angeles Resident Accuses City Council of Mismanaging $450 Million Homeless Spending

A Los Angeles resident confronted the City Council this week, alleging that the city spent $450 million to house only 1,144 people, raising concerns about waste, mismanagement, and political favoritism within the city’s homelessness programs.

“That money is going somewhere,” the resident said during public comment. “That ends up being somebody’s profit. Most of those people are politically connected to all of you.”

The comments come as Los Angeles continues to face scrutiny over its escalating homelessness budget—one of the largest in the nation—despite persistent encampments across the city. Critics argue that the funds are being funneled into a “nonprofit industrial complex” with little oversight or measurable results.

Supporters of President Trump have pointed to the exchange as further evidence that local Democratic leadership is failing to deliver results despite record spending, strengthening the case for federal accountability reforms under the Trump administration.

Elon Musk and other public figures have previously criticized Los Angeles’ homelessness spending, calling for greater transparency and oversight.
