A Somali national previously convicted of child sexual assault in Minnesota was released by Democrat-led authorities and has now been arrested again on new violent charges, intensifying criticism of the state’s handling of dangerous offenders.
According to state and local officials, Abdi Mahad Mohamed—a registered sex offender—was freed despite his criminal history. After his release, investigators say Mohamed kidnapped a woman and sexually assaulted her, prompting a multi-agency search that ended in his capture.
Following his arrest, detention staff reported that Mohamed has been spreading fecal matter inside his jail cell, creating additional safety and sanitation risks for personnel.
The case has sparked outrage among conservative leaders and Trump allies, who argue that Minnesota’s Democrat-led policies are “reckless” and “dangerously soft” on repeat violent offenders. Supporters of President Trump say the incident underscores the need for stronger immigration enforcement, tougher sentencing, and strict deportation measures—all policies Trump has pledged to restore.
Republican lawmakers are now demanding an immediate review of Minnesota’s release protocols and calling for federal involvement to prevent similar cases from occurring.
