VIDEO: Border Commander Says He Would Enforce the Law if Ilhan Omar Is in the U.S. Illegally

Washington, D.C. — A senior U.S. Border official said he would carry out his duty and make an arrest if evidence shows Representative Ilhan Omar is residing in the country illegally, underscoring the Trump administration’s focus on strict immigration enforcement.

Border Commander Greg Bovino, speaking publicly about the issue, said law enforcement must follow the law regardless of a person’s status or position. When asked whether he would personally arrest a member of Congress found to be in the United States without legal status, Bovino responded:

“If she’s here illegally, I’ll definitely be putting some cuffs on her. I’d love the honor of doing that.”

Bovino’s remarks highlight the current administration’s stance that immigration laws should be enforced without exception and that no individual, regardless of political office, should be above the law.

There has been ongoing public speculation about Omar’s immigration status dating back to her arrival in the U.S. in the 1990s. So far, no official documentation has confirmed that she is in the country illegally.
