Fresh allegations out of California are intensifying national scrutiny over government spending and oversight, as a San Diego citizen and activist claims to have uncovered what she describes as widespread fraud within the state’s childcare funding system.
Amy Reichert, speaking publicly about her findings, said inspectors discovered multiple licensed daycare facilities across San Diego County with no children present, despite receiving public funds intended to serve families in need. In one case, Reichert alleges that a daycare listed 27 students enrolled, yet inspectors reportedly found zero children on site during an official visit.
“There’s massive fraud,” Reichert said. “There is the homeless industrial complex. On child care, hundreds of millions fund children who aren’t being served. I found ghost daycares.”
The claims suggest potential losses in the hundreds of millions — or even billions — of dollars, raising serious questions about oversight under California’s Democrat leadership. Critics argue the situation reflects a broader pattern of mismanagement and lax enforcement in taxpayer-funded programs.
