President Donald Trump on Wednesday strongly defended Attorney General Pam Bondi following a high-profile hearing related to Jeffrey Epstein, calling her performance “fantastic” while sharply criticizing Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY).
In a statement, President Trump said Bondi handled the proceedings effectively and accused Massie of undermining Republican priorities.
“[Massie is] fighting aimlessly against a hopeless agenda of Hate and Stupidity,” Trump said, adding that the congressman’s “crashing Job Approval Numbers in the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky” reflect growing dissatisfaction among voters. Trump also claimed that Massie is being outpolled by a potential primary challenger, whom he described as a “Military Hero Opponent.”
The president compared Massie to former Rep. Liz Cheney, saying he is now in “Wacky Liz Cheney territory.”
Trump also addressed renewed public and political attention surrounding Epstein, arguing that interest in the convicted sex offender intensified only when political opponents believed it could damage him. “
Nobody cared about Epstein when he was alive, they only cared about him when they thought he could create Political Harm to a very popular President,” Trump said. He added that Democratic efforts to highlight the issue are intended to distract from what he described as “tremendous Republican success.”
In his remarks, Trump further criticized Democratic policy priorities, accusing them of focusing on border policies and cultural issues rather than economic or national security concerns.
