Tennessee State Senator London Lamar just gave the Volunteer State a masterclass in legislative clownery. While the Republican-controlled Senate passed new redistricting maps that strengthen GOP majorities and reflect actual voter will, Lamar decided decorum was for suckers. She hopped right up on her desk and started performing like she was auditioning for a different kind of stage.
This wasnt principled protest. It was pure political theater from a party thats furious they keep losing fair elections. Democrats screamed No Jim Crow 2.0 and voter suppression, the same tired script they roll out every time maps dont guarantee them permanent power. Sorry folks, winning more seats because voters prefer your policies isnt suppression, its democracy.
Republicans did what majorities are supposed to do: draw sensible districts that match the states clear conservative lean. Instead of debating like adults, Democrats turned the chamber into a sideshow. No wonder regular Tennesseans are fed up with the lefts endless tantrums.
If this is the best the opposition has, expect more red waves ahead. Time to sit down, Senator. The adults are running the session.
