Beloved Country Superstar Credits Jesus Christ After Winning 7 ACM Awards

Ella Langley walked into the Academy of Country Music Awards feeling off-balance. She walked out with a trophy haul and a faith-forward thank-you that lit up the room.

Langley, 27, fought back tears Sunday as she accepted Female Artist of the Year at the 61st annual ACM Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Lainey Wilson hurried over for a hug before Langley took the stage to receive the trophy from T.J. Osborne.

“I’m trying to get to saying something, but I can’t,” Langley told the crowd after a standing ovation.

“Thank you. The women in this category, to the women in this life … this is a weird thing to do.”

Langley said she was having a “strange day” heading into the show and leaned on fellow artists before the ceremony.

“I walked into Lainey’s room and I got emotional and she wrapped me up and started praying for me,” she said. “All of a sudden here comes Miranda and her pink hat … Thank you so much Kelsea for loving me.”

Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, Megan Moroney and Wilson were also nominated in the category.

Langley also thanked her family and gave a direct shoutout to her faith.

“Thank you to my parents for believing in me,” she said. “Thank you Jesus for letting me do this for a living. Thank you to the ACM’s … Lauren Alaina, I love you so much.”

She capped the moment with a nod to the women who helped shape her climb.

“Thank you to the women. I would not be standing up here without them.”

Langley’s night kept rolling as Shaboozey presented Single of the Year. Langley brought co-writer Lambert up with her before handing the mic over.

“I already said things, so now I’m going to let Miranda Lambert say things,” Langley said.

Lambert, a longtime ACM fixture, praised the field and the partnership.

“All those were dang good songs, y’all,” Lambert said.

“This is my 20th ACMs this year, actually. I’m just so thankful Ella trusted me with her art.”

Langley later accepted Song of the Year from Michael Bublé for “Choosin’ Texas,” again sounding stunned by how quickly the night was moving.

“I am .. if you ever met me, you know that I am not at a loss for words very often,” she said, before thanking God.

“I don’t know why you latched onto this song, but thank you for doing it.”

Langley also won Artist-Songwriter of the Year before the telecast and closed the night with seven ACM Awards overall, turning a “strange day” into a career-defining sweep.
