JUST IN: Iran Peace Deal Reaches Final Stages, Trump Says

President Donald Trump stated that an agreement with Iran has been largely negotiated and was in the final stages of negotiations.

“An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries, as listed. Final aspects and details of the Deal are currently being discussed, and will be announced shortly,” the president posted on Truth Social. “

In addition to many other elements of the Agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened.”

Trump described recent discussions involving multiple regional leaders. He noted a call with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain regarding a memorandum of understanding on peace with Iran.

The post highlighted that negotiators have reached a point where the core framework is in place, pending final details. Trump indicated that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz forms a key part of the prospective agreement.

The vital waterway — which was responsible for roughly one fifth of global oil exports prior to the eruption of the conflict — has been a central issue throughout the conflict.

In related statements to media on the same day, Trump assessed the chances of reaching a final deal as around 50/50. He mentioned reviewing the latest proposals and suggested a decision could come soon, potentially within the next day.

Trump emphasized that any agreement must meet U.S. objectives, including limits on Iran’s nuclear program.

Today’s developments follow the fifth round of talks held in Rome. Mediators reported movement on several points, including navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and elements related to sanctions and nuclear activities.

No immediate final agreement was reached in Rome, but both sides agreed to continue discussions.

The focus remains on concluding the remaining technical and verification aspects. Trump has maintained that the U.S. position prioritizes preventing nuclear weapons development by Iran and ensuring stable maritime access for international shipping.

Saturday’s update comes as markets and regional partners monitor the situation closely, given the potential effects on energy prices and security. Officials have not released a full text of the proposed memorandum, but Trump’s post indicates substantial progress toward formalization.

Further talks are expected in the coming days as teams work through the final elements. The administration continues to coordinate with involved countries to align on the terms.
