BREAKING: Walz Administration Sued Trump DOJ to Block Access to SNAP Fraud Record

🚨 BREAKING: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is facing renewed scrutiny after reports revealed Minnesota joined a multi-state lawsuit against the Trump administration over access to SNAP program data tied to fraud investigations.

Critics say the lawsuit effectively blocks federal investigators from obtaining records needed to pursue fraud and abuse cases involving the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

The controversy erupted after Assistant Attorney General McDonald blasted Minnesota officials during remarks about escalating fraud allegations in the state.

“It’s very obvious to any honest broker that this type of fraud escalating in Minnesota could have only happened if the people responsible for doling out the money were willfully blind to the conduct that was ongoing in Minnesota,” McDonald said.

McDonald accused state officials of refusing to provide investigators with key documents tied to federal benefit programs.

“They should open their books and all of these programs. Open the books and allow us to have access to the documentary evidence that we need to prove these offenses.”

He then pointed specifically to the SNAP program, alleging Minnesota is actively fighting federal efforts to access records.

“They’ve not done that. One example is the SNAP program funded by USDA. Millions and millions of dollars. We’ve asked them for those records. They’re suing us to prevent us from accessing those records!”

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and officials from multiple Democratic-led states have argued the lawsuit is necessary to protect sensitive personal information of SNAP recipients, including Social Security numbers and addresses, claiming the Trump administration’s data requests violate federal privacy laws.

Meanwhile, Walz has repeatedly defended his administration’s handling of major fraud investigations in Minnesota, including the massive Feeding Our Future scandal, arguing state officials were the ones who first identified suspicious activity and alerted federal investigators.
