The FBI has arrested senior CIA official David Rush after discovering roughly 303 gold bars worth over $40 million, $2 million in cash, and dozens of luxury watches at his Virginia home.
Rush, who held top-secret clearance, had requested large amounts of gold and foreign currency from the agency between November and March, claiming they were for work-related expenses. Much of it was never returned to agency storage.
He now faces charges of theft of public money, including using fraudulent time sheets and inflating his credentials. Investigators are probing additional charges tied to the massive haul of seized assets.
