New Footage Shows Iranian Drone Clobbering Major International Airport

New footage released by the Kuwaiti government shows the terrifying moment an Iranian drone strike slammed into Kuwait International Airport, sending a massive fireball and debris into the air.

The video appears to show a direct hit on part of the airport complex, followed by a large explosion as smoke billowed from the impact site.

Kuwaiti authorities said one person was killed and more than 60 others were injured in the strike, marking a dangerous new escalation in Iran’s widening campaign of aggression across the region.

The attack comes after Kuwait’s Foreign Affairs Ministry condemned what it described as brutal Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting civilian and vital facilities, including the country’s main international airport.

In its earlier statement, Kuwait said the attack caused damage to vital facilities and diplomatic missions while killing one person and injuring others.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the State of Kuwait’s condemnation and denunciation, in the strongest terms, of the brutal and ongoing Iranian attacks using ballistic missiles and drones, the latest of which occurred at dawn today, targeting once again civilian and vital facilities, including Kuwait International Airport, resulting in the death of one individual, injuries to others, and damage to vital facilities, including diplomatic missions,” the ministry said, according to a translation of its Arabic-language post on X.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense also said hostile drones targeted the airport’s passenger building, leaving significant damage behind.

“The Official Spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi, stated that a number of hostile drones targeted today the passenger building (T1) at Kuwait International Airport as a result of the criminal Iranian aggression, which resulted in significant material damage to the building and injuries to a number of individuals, who received the necessary medical care,” the post said, according to a translation.

The newly released footage puts a chilling visual on what Kuwaiti officials had already described as a direct assault on civilian infrastructure.

It also raises fresh questions about how far Tehran is willing to go as tensions with the U.S. and its regional allies continue to boil over.

U.S. Central Command previously said American forces had defeated multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones as Iran launched attacks across the Middle East.

“U.S. forces successfully defeated multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, and conducted self-defense strikes on Qeshm Island in response to attempted attacks by Iran across the Middle East, June 2. Iran launched several ballistic missiles toward regional neighbors; however, all failed to hit their intended targets. Two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait fell short or broke apart enroute, and three missiles launched at Bahrain were immediately intercepted by U.S. and Bahrain air defense forces,” CENTCOM said.

CENTCOM also said U.S. forces shot down Iranian drones aimed at civilian mariners and struck an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island.

“Moments earlier, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces shot down three one-way attack drones launched by Iran toward civilian mariners that were rightfully transiting regional waters. American forces also conducted self-defense strikes on an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island. No U.S. personnel were harmed. CENTCOM forces remain vigilant and ready to defend against unwarranted Iranian aggression during the ongoing ceasefire,” the statement added.

The command later reported another wave of Iranian drones attempting to target U.S. forces in Kuwait.

“An additional wave of Iranian drones attempting to attack U.S. forces in Kuwait failed to impact intended targets tonight. U.S. Central Command air defenses successfully downed multiple drones and ensured no American personnel or assets were harmed.”

Wednesday’s airport strike now adds another explosive chapter to the crisis.

For Kuwait, the attack was not just a military provocation. It was a strike on one of the country’s most important civilian hubs.

For the U.S. and its allies, the footage is another warning sign that Iran is still pushing the region toward the brink while targeting civilian sites, regional neighbors and American forces.

As the smoke clears from Kuwait International Airport, the message from Tehran appears hard to miss: even major civilian infrastructure is now in the crosshairs.
