US Singer Presumed Dead After Tragic Helicopter Crash

American singer and record producer Oliver Tree is presumed dead after two helicopters collided in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, killing six people, according to reports.

The 32-year-old California native was reportedly among those killed in the Sunday morning crash, which sent one of the aircraft plunging into a car dealership where several electric vehicles were parked.

Rio de Janeiro’s Military Fire Department said the crash sparked a fire at the dealership, though the flames were later extinguished, according to the Associated Press.

Authorities have launched an investigation into what caused the deadly midair collision.

Representatives for Tree did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

He was scheduled to perform next in Lisbon on July 1.

The other victims identified in the crash were passengers Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim and Lucas Brito Chaves, along with pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac, according to CNN Brazil.

Tree, born Oliver Tree Nickell, built a devoted following by blending alternative pop, hip-hop, comedy and performance art into an eccentric, character-driven act.

He was best known for songs including “Hurt,” “Alien Boy” and “Life Goes On.”

The crash cuts short a career marked by viral hits, oddball visuals and a stage persona that made Tree one of the more recognizable figures in alternative pop.

His death stunned fans around the world as tributes began pouring in for the artist, who had been in the middle of an international tour.
