‘Elf’ Actor Arrested In Tampa For Shocking Reason

“Elf” actor Faizon Love was arrested in Tampa after previously claiming he could not afford the child support payments he allegedly owed, according to a report.

The 58-year-old comedian was taken into custody Tuesday night in Hillsborough County, Florida, and charged with two counts of contempt of court, according to records viewed by The Post.

Love, who lives in Glendale, California, is being held without bond at Orient Road Jail in Tampa.

The arrest came after Love claimed in court documents earlier this year that he could not pay the $250,000 he allegedly owed a woman named Tiffany Lee, TMZ reported.

The actor insisted he had not earned any money over the last 12 months and said his highest gross income over the past five years was $13,000, according to the outlet.

Love also defended missing an April hearing in the child support case, claiming he had been dealing with a medical emergency at the time.

The “Couples Retreat” star was ordered to turn himself in for 90 days behind bars before his Tuesday arrest.

In his mug shot, Love stared stone-faced at the camera while wearing an orange jumpsuit.

Love is best known to many viewers for playing the Gimbels manager in the 2003 Christmas comedy “Elf,” starring Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf.

His attorney did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Tuesday’s arrest was not Love’s first run-in with the law.

In February 2025, he was accused of felony assault after a hotel clerk alleged he slammed a credit card machine into her head and broke her glasses.

The alleged incident took place in August 2024.

In July 2025, a judge found enough evidence for that case to move forward and scheduled a criminal trial.

Love also pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor over a 2017 assault at John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Ohio, where he was caught on camera attacking a valet.

He was fined $500 and sentenced to a 180-day suspended jail sentence in that case.

Love’s latest arrest adds another legal headache for the actor, whose once-familiar comedy résumé is now being overshadowed by court battles and criminal allegations.
