Kash Patel Says All FBI Resources Are Available Following Lindsey Graham’s Death

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that the bureau is assisting local law enforcement in the wake of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham’s sudden death in Washington D.C.

In a statement, Patel issued a statement honoring Graham as “a devoted public servant, a fierce defender of our nation’s security,” and noted the FBI’s readiness to provide appropriate support to authorities handling matters related to the senator’s passing.

Senator Graham, 71, passed away late Saturday evening at his D.C. home. His office described the cause as a “brief and sudden illness.”

Emergency services responded to a cardiac arrest call at his Capitol Hill residence in Washington, D.C. Reports indicate the senator had returned earlier that day from a trip to Ukraine.

Medical responders performed CPR following reports of chest pains. All available information attributes the death to natural causes, with no indications of foul play.

Graham served in the Senate since 2003, following prior terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was a prominent voice on foreign policy and national security and had developed a close alliance with

President Donald Trump in recent years.

President Trump ordered flags flown at half-staff nationwide in Graham’s honor.

“Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the greatest people and Senators I have ever known, is dead! He was always working, and was a true American Patriot. Lindsey will be greatly missed,” the president said in a statement.

Trump also noted in interviews that he had spoken with Graham hours before the senator’s death, describing him as sounding tired but otherwise in good spirits, and referred to Graham as “like a member of the family.”

Tributes have continued from lawmakers, world leaders, and administration officials, many of whom have highlighted Graham’s legislative record on defense issues, his evolution into a key Trump ally, and his longstanding commitment to public service.
