President Donald Trump is expected to deliver a highly anticipated primetime address Thursday night that could center on newly declassified intelligence concerning alleged Chinese interference in the 2020 presidential election, according to multiple reports.
The speech, scheduled for 9 p.m. Eastern, has generated widespread speculation ever since Trump previewed it earlier this week as containing “really big news.” While the White House has declined to reveal the full contents of the address, several news outlets have reported that election integrity and foreign interference will be major themes.
Intelligence officials, including CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte, are scheduled to participate. Pulte has overseen a review of documents slated for declassification.
On Wednesday evening, investigative journalist Paul Sperry posted on X that, according to an administration source who had reviewed a draft of the speech, Trump plans to unveil what Sperry described as “bombshell evidence” alleging that China interfered in the 2020 election to help Joe Biden.
According to Sperry’s report, the alleged evidence is contained in four sets of recently declassified documents that are expected to be released Friday. Sperry wrote that the documents were uncovered from previously suppressed FBI, CIA and Office of the Director of National Intelligence records and detail what the source described as “alarming vulnerabilities” in America’s election infrastructure.

Sperry also reported that the documents allegedly claim Chinese hackers accessed state voter registration databases and obtained information on tens of thousands of voters, which the source claimed could have been used to manufacture mail-in ballots. He also reported that Trump is expected to discuss the alleged existence of more than 100,000 non-citizens, including illegal immigrants, on voter rolls.
Those claims have not yet been verified through the public release of the documents. Other reporting has similarly indicated that Trump intends to discuss intelligence related to China’s alleged efforts to access U.S. voter data during his address. CBS News reported Wednesday that the president is expected to allege Chinese meddling in U.S. elections based on previously unreleased intelligence reviewed by administration officials.
Reuters likewise reported that the White House has been weighing whether to declassify intelligence concerning China’s capability and intent to interfere in U.S. elections. The Washington Post previously reported that Trump’s speech would focus on vulnerabilities within election infrastructure and findings from a broad review of historical FBI records conducted by his administration. According to that report, the president is also expected to discuss claims involving China and Venezuela during the address.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has cautioned against relying on anonymous reports about the speech’s contents, saying earlier this week that “nobody knows yet what President Trump will ultimately say” and encouraging Americans to tune in for the address.
The speech comes as congressional Republicans continue advancing election security legislation, including the SAVE Act, while the Trump administration has placed renewed emphasis on election integrity ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
