VIDEO: McConnell Caregiver Bolts Out Of His DC Home With Concerned Look On Her Face

Questions about Sen. Mitch McConnell’s health are growing after an in-home caregiver was spotted leaving the Kentucky Republican’s Washington residence and quickly ducking away from a reporter asking about his condition.

The woman was approached outside McConnell’s home by independent journalist Nicholas Ballasy as she arrived to care for the 84-year-old senator, who has not been seen publicly since he was hospitalized June 14 following a serious fall.

She initially answered a few questions about why she was there.

“No, I am a home care, home caregiver,” the woman said, and the reporter asked if she had been there before. “No, this is my first time. Now I can go?”

The caregiver also said she was scheduled to remain at the residence overnight.

But when Ballasy encountered her again as she later left McConnell’s home, the mood appeared noticeably different.

The woman declined to answer additional questions and hurried toward a waiting vehicle as the reporter tried to get an update on the longtime senator.

“How’s Mr. McConnell doing?” Ballasy asked as she walked away. “Does he seem like he’s in good health?”

The caregiver did not respond.

The encounter comes as McConnell remains out of public view following weeks of medical treatment.

His office announced Thursday that the former Senate Republican leader had been discharged from a rehabilitation facility and was continuing his recovery at home.

Staffers, however, did not provide a timeline for when Mitch McConnell might return to official duties.

The lack of a firm return date has only added to speculation surrounding the veteran senator’s condition.

McConnell has dealt with a series of highly publicized health concerns in recent years, making his prolonged absence from Capitol Hill a growing topic in Washington.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has also repeatedly pushed for more information about McConnell’s health as questions continue over his ability to finish out his term.

McConnell is currently the third-oldest serving member of the Senate.

He has already announced that he plans to retire when his term expires in January, bringing an end to a decades-long career that made him one of the most powerful Republican figures in Washington.

For now, McConnell remains at home recovering while his office stays largely quiet about when voters can expect to see him back in public.

And the sight of an overnight caregiver quickly leaving his residence without offering any update is unlikely to quiet the questions anytime soon.
