Legendary Rocker Cancels Show Last-Minute For Emergency Medical Procedure

Rod Stewart abruptly postponed a Cincinnati concert just two hours before doors were set to open after undergoing an unexpected medical procedure.

Organizers announced the last-minute change online ahead of the Aug. 9 show, telling disappointed fans that the 81-year-old rock legend needed immediate medical attention.

“due to an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention” his performance was postponed.

Officials stressed that Stewart’s condition was not believed to be serious and said fans should expect more information about a replacement date soon.

“Rescheduling is currently underway, with additional information to follow on Tuesday,” they noted.

The statement also said that “Rod is expected to make a quick recovery,” though organizers did not reveal what type of procedure he underwent.

Ticket holders were assured they would not have to repurchase seats once a new date is announced.

“all previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled date.”

It remains unclear what options will be available for fans who cannot attend the replacement performance.

Stewart had been scheduled to take the stage as part of his “One Last Time” North American tour.

The veteran singer successfully completed recent performances in Connecticut, Virginia and New York before the sudden Cincinnati postponement.

He is still scheduled to perform Aug. 11 in Cleveland, followed by additional dates before returning to Las Vegas for a residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace later this year.

The latest health interruption comes after several concerning moments for Stewart in recent months.

During a June concert in Utah, the singer paused his performance and used an oxygen tank after reportedly coming close to fainting on stage.

He later canceled a California concert because of an upper respiratory infection that caused laryngitis.

That cancellation sparked some criticism after Stewart was subsequently seen attending a World Cup match, leading some frustrated ticket holders to question whether he had recovered faster than expected.

Despite the recent scares, Stewart has continued touring and performing for packed crowds as he winds through what has been billed as his final major North American tour.

As of Monday afternoon, Stewart had not personally addressed the Cincinnati postponement on his social media accounts.

For now, fans are waiting on Tuesday’s promised update to learn when the rock icon will return to the stage and whether the rest of his scheduled tour will continue as planned.
