President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he would conduct an extensive campaign tour in the final 30 days before the November 3 midterm elections.
The remarks came during comments to reporters in the Oval Office and later at a White House Rose Garden dinner with Republican lawmakers and administration officials. In the latter remarks, Trump stated that he would be focused on on the most competitive races.
“I’m going to take the final 30 days, maybe a little bit more than that, because it’s all about 35 races,” he said. “I’m going to go to every one of those 35 places, and we’re going to see if we can get everyone elected.”
He then turned to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and others present to identify races that were tied or decided by small margins. “If you’re leading by 40 points and you’ve been there for 25 years … please don’t ask me to come to your area and make a speech,” the president stated. “In some cases, you can be losing by a lot, and we’ll bring you over the line. But mostly, it’s if you’re close – and we’ll get, I think, we’ll get all those people elected.”
Earlier in the day, Trump told reporters he would campaign for congressional candidates, as well as a handful of gubernatorial races. “I love the governors, but we’re interested in the Senate, and we’re interested in the House,” he said. “I will be going to Alaska. I’m going to be going the last 30 days before the election. I’ll be making a lot of stops.”
The president did not provide many details on exact locations, though he did hint at holding rallies in support of Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) and Texas Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton. “I will go to Alaska to make sure that a great senator gets reelected,” Trump added.

Trump also described plans for tele-town halls, saying they are “fantastic” and that he intended to hold as many as seven to ten per night with congressional campaigns. He compared the schedule to his 2024 presidential campaign. “I’ll be with you 100% all the way to November… We’re going to do something like I did for myself in the last presidential election. Four months out, I said, ‘okay, no days off.’”
He added that campaigning too early can cause voters to forget.
The announcement occurred days before the Republican Party’s first midterm convention, which is scheduled for September 9 and 10 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and several high-profile midterm candidates are slated to speak at the event.
