In a jaw-dropping podcast clip, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rewrote American history to claim that Black Americans built democracy from scratch while sidelining the actual founders.
“Black Americans really created democracy in this country,” AOC declared. “How they literally made something from nothing. It is just beyond me.”
She continued: “I think about the civil rights and voting rights movement and how Black Americans really created democracy in this country… I think about how Native people have survived and preserved and treasured their culture. I think many of us think about immigrants… And you are the third because we have our story of our parents, our grandparents, our great-great-grandparents who come and make something from nothing. And I think that’s a big part of also the most inspiring elements of what America is all about.”
There you have it. The woman who couldn’t name the three branches of government now lectures the nation that the real creators of our constitutional republic weren’t the European-descended Founders who drafted the Declaration, fought the Revolution, and ratified the Constitution. It was Black Americans, Native Americans, and immigrants all along.
This isn’t a slip. It’s the 1619 Project mindset on steroids: erase the Enlightenment roots, British common law, and Western traditions that built the freest, most prosperous nation in history, then hand credit to grievance groups pushing “something from nothing.”
Reality check: America is a republic, not a pure democracy, deliberately designed by men like Madison, Hamilton, and Jefferson to avoid mob rule. Enslaved Black Americans endured horrors and their descendants fought bravely for rights, but they didn’t draft the framework. The Founders did, drawing from centuries of Anglo-Saxon liberty.
AOC’s rant exposes the left’s open contempt for America’s actual heritage. While real patriots honor every group’s contributions, we won’t let radical Democrats hijack history to justify open borders, identity politics, and anti-Western guilt trips. This is how civilizations unravel—one ahistorical podcast at a time.
