Bret Michaels Fans Heartbroken After Major Health Update

Bret Michaels is stepping away from the stage for the remainder of 2026 as the Poison rocker continues recovering from recent medical procedures.

Doctors pulled the plug on Michaels’ upcoming performances after evaluating him following his return to the stage at The Bowl at Sugar Hill in Georgia. They concluded that the 63-year-old needs several months of rest before touring again.

“We will be pulling Bret off the road for the time being,” Michaels’ doctors, Dr. Abby Borhan and Dr. Patel, said in a statement posted to his official Facebook page. “He wanted to attempt this show, but we feel there is a much-needed period of rest and slow recovery ahead, especially considering the heat and humidity during the summer months and the effect it can have on his blood sugar levels.”

The decision wipes out the rest of Bret Michaels’ scheduled dates this year, including The Mountain Music Festival, private appearances and other planned performances.

“Our deepest apologies from Michaels Entertainment Group, as we were truly looking forward to the rest of this year’s shows,” the organization said. “We now look ahead and to Bret being able to return healthy, strong and ready to rock.”

The health setback comes weeks after Michaels revealed that he underwent surgery to remove a kidney stone that would not pass on its own.

In a July Facebook post, the rocker said he initially tried to battle through the excruciating pain while honoring several concert commitments.

“On this #WisdomWednesday, the first thing I learned is complete gratitude for the frontline workers, doctors and nurses who this week have recently taken care of me, as the kidney stone (after almost 7 days of waiting it out) would not pass,” he wrote.

“The pain became intense but, as usual, I played through Charleston WV, Grantville PA and a special private show at Fairchild AFB in Spokane for veterans, active duty and their families.”

Michaels made it through three shows before the pain finally forced him into the hospital the following morning. He said “the pain became too much when the stone would not pass.”

The procedure was ultimately successful, and Michaels told fans “the operation has been done and is complete & I’m out of post-op recovery.”

Still, the singer made clear that he would not rush back until doctors gave him the green light.

“I’m doing everything within my power to feel better and continue playing great shows for great fans when I’ve got a complete clean bill of health,” he said.

“Just want to say on this #WisdomWednesday that I am wise enough to know how important family, friends, fans, doctors and nurses play such a vital role in our everyday health.”

Michaels was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a child and has spoken openly about managing the disease throughout his decades in the spotlight. Along with leading Poison, he has built a solo career, starred on reality television and used his platform to promote diabetes awareness.
