South Carolina just delivered a powerful blow against illegal immigration and the employers who enable it. In “Operation Ghost Story,” authorities dismantled a massive fraud scheme where nearly 50 illegal immigrants used stolen American identities to work at a manufacturing plant in Abbeville. The best part? The American bosses who knowingly hired them got arrested too.Plant manager Christopher Douglas Ramey and HR coordinator Sandy Lynn Willis were indicted alongside four others for criminal conspiracy, identity fraud, and forgery. They didn’t just look the other way – they actively helped illegals use fake Social Security cards, driver’s licenses, and immigration documents based on real Americans’ stolen information.Attorney General Alan Wilson laid it out clearly: “If you are unlawfully aiding illegal immigrants in South Carolina, you are going to be investigated and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. If you are taking advantage of hard-working Americans, stealing their identities, and are intentionally ignoring your responsibilities as an employer in an effort to circumvent the law, we are coming for you.”He added that these crimes steal jobs from Americans and threaten national security, especially in manufacturing. “These crimes are not only stealing jobs from American employees but also pose a serious risk to national security. When criminals make it easy for illegal aliens to get fake identification documents, we don’t know who is working in our country.”Wilson hammered home the point on targeting: “We are not targeting communities because of what you look like or where you work. We’re targeting specific conduct… if it leads us to a crime, we’re going to prosecute that crime.”During the raid at Burnstein Von Seelen Precision Casting, ICE detained 48 illegal workers. The investigation exposed how easily document vendors crank out fakes for a few hundred bucks using real citizens’ Social Security numbers and birthdates.SLED Chief Mark Keel said it straight: “Employers who knowingly and willfully hire illegal labor must be held accountable… illegal employment schemes will not be tolerated in South Carolina.”This is exactly what real enforcement looks like. For years, South Carolina tried to act but faced roadblocks from Washington. No more excuses. Arrest the employers, shut down the fraud mills, and watch the incentives for illegal immigration collapse. More operations like this across America – now. Americans first, always.Sources: South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson press conference SLED and ICE joint operation announcement Original report via Matt Van Swol on X
