After a brief pause in hostilities between the two sides, the Iranian regime on Tuesday launched a series of missile and drone strikes at a U.S. military installation in Jordan.
According to a statement from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired the missiles from central Iran at approximately 5:45 p.m. Eastern Time. CENTCOM reported that all of the incoming missiles were successfully intercepted.
Iranian state media confirmed that a number of missiles had been launched from the center of the country toward Jordan. No casualties or material damage were reported from the incident.
Tuesday’s launch follows a series of earlier Iranian missile and drone actions against sites in Jordan that host American personnel. Since the breakdown of a ceasefire arrangement on July 8, Jordan has been targeted on multiple occasions.
One prior incident on July 17 involved ballistic missiles and drones that struck the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in the nation’s east. CENTCOM confirmed that two American service members were killed in action that day while defending against the attacks, with one additional service member initially reported as missing. Four other personnel were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals and later discharged, while others with minor injuries returned to duty.

CENTCOM has documented U.S. casualties totaling at least 17 service members killed in the broader conflict since its outset, with hundreds wounded. Approximately 4,000 American personnel are present at various facilities across Jordan under longstanding bilateral military cooperation arrangements.
The latest missile launch marks the latest flare-up of hostilities following the general collapse of the previously agreed upon memorandum of understanding, which produced a weeks-long ceasefire and was intended to provide time for lasting peace discussions, earlier this month.
President Donald Trump stated at a NATO summit in early July that the arrangement was over following Iranian actions against commercial shipping.
U.S. forces then conducted a series of near-daily strikes against Iranian targets, reaching 13 consecutive nights , which targeted military command centers, air defense and coastal surveillance sites, maritime capabilities, missile and drone storage and launch facilities, with the stated purpose of degrading Iran’s capacity to threaten commercial vessels and civilian mariners in the strait.
Subsequent U.S. strikes continued in response to Iranian actions, including those that caused American fatalities in Jordan. Trump then issued a pause to the strikes this past weekend, and it is unclear whether the U.S. intends to respond to Tuesday’s actions as of this report.
