Prosecutors on Tuesday showed new security footage they say tracks Tyler Robinson across the Utah Valley University campus on the day Charlie Kirk was assassinated.
The never-before-seen CCTV video was presented during the second day of Robinson’s preliminary hearing in Provo, Utah, as prosecutors work to convince a judge there is enough evidence to send the case to trial.
Robinson, 23, is accused of shooting and killing Kirk during a Turning Point USA event at the university on Sept. 10.
The campus footage allegedly captured Robinson’s movements from the moment he arrived at Utah Valley University through the shooting and afterward.
Prosecutors said the video shows Robinson on top of the Losee Center for Student Success, the building where authorities say the shot that killed Kirk was fired.
The footage also allegedly captured a car driven by Robinson leaving campus after the shooting.
The video evidence is a major piece of the state’s case, which prosecutors say connects Robinson to the rooftop, the escape route and the vehicle that left the university after the assassination.
Utah State Bureau of Investigation Agent David Hull testified Monday that investigators relied heavily on surveillance footage to track the suspect through campus and piece together his movements.
That footage became a central issue during the first day of the hearing after Robinson’s defense objected to a prosecution video that included edits, including face blurs, zooms and red circles.
Judge Tony Graf Jr. sustained that objection, ruling the edited version had not been properly authenticated.
Prosecutors said they would provide an unedited version so the footage could be introduced later.
The new video presented Tuesday gave prosecutors another opportunity to show the judge the path they say Robinson took before and after Kirk was killed.
Robinson has not entered a plea.
He faces aggravated murder and other felony charges and could receive the death penalty if convicted of the top charge.
The preliminary hearing is expected to last all week.
Prosecutors are also expected to present additional law enforcement video, forensic evidence and a recorded statement from Robinson’s former roommate and romantic partner, Lance Twiggs.
This video is incredibly damning. Watch Tyler Robinson visit UVU campus four times on 9/10. Watch him “limp” with the rifle in his pants. Watch him climb stairs to the roof, jump a guardrail, lie prone on the corner, then run as soon as the shot was fired. pic.twitter.com/TWwrxEyeJV

Authorities have alleged that Twiggs received a written confession from Robinson after the shooting.
Kirk’s widow and parents attended the opening day of the hearing Monday, along with high-profile supporters including Donald Trump Jr. and conservative commentators Jack Posobiec and Brandon Tatum.
Graphic footage of Kirk’s fatal shooting was shown to the judge and attorneys Monday but not displayed publicly in court.
Reporters could hear the audio of the gunshot.
Graf visibly recoiled when the shot rang out, while Robinson showed no obvious reaction.
Tuesday’s footage added another layer to a case already filled with surveillance video, forensic claims and alleged admissions.
