Katy Perry is scrambling to contain fallout from a shocking new allegation that threatens to torch both her public image and her high-profile relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, sources told outlets following the claims.

The controversy erupted after Australian actress Ruby Rose, 40, posted a graphic accusation about an incident she claims happened nearly two decades ago at a nightclub in Australia. In a social media post shared by Complex, Rose alleged that Perry, 41, rubbed “her disgusting v***ina on my face until … I projectile vomited on her” at a nightclub Down Under.
Perry has not been charged with a crime. A representative for the pop star has denied the accusation, calling the claims “categorically false” and “dangerous, reckless lies,” according to People.
Rose, who has appeared in projects including Orange Is the New Black and Batwoman, said on Threads she recently filed a police report. Authorities have confirmed they are investigating an alleged 2010 assault, The Guardian reported.
Jacqueline Harris, a representative for the Office of Public Prosecution in Victoria, Australia, noted the state has “no statute of limitations on prosecuting indictable [serious] crimes,” TMZ reported.
A former manager at the nightclub, Spice Market, told Australia’s Herald Sun that both women had “too much to drink” and said he did not see any alleged sexual assault that night.
The insider close to the situation said Perry believes the allegation will not stand up, but the damage is already being felt. “Katy is confident that she will be cleared, but it’s still a nightmare.”
Supporters have also pointed to a past essay Rose wrote for the Herald Sun about sobriety in 2011, describing a night where she “threw up on Katy Perry” and insisting “nothing horrific happened.” Critics argue the new accusation clashes with that earlier account.
The uproar is landing on top of other controversies that have dogged Perry in recent years. Some critics have resurfaced footage and headlines about past behavior, including a widely reported 2012 incident involving pop star Justin Bieber backstage in England.

Perry and ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom purchased the home from Carl Westcott, 85, in 2020, but Westcott later tried to unwind the sale, citing alleged mental incapacity. A judge ultimately ruled in Perry’s favor, and she was later awarded $1.8 million in damages for lost rental income, according to People.
Now, with an active investigation and a brutal allegation ricocheting across social media, the pressure is on Perry to defend herself while protecting a romance that has already attracted political attention because of Trudeau’s own polarizing profile.
