Key Congressional Committee Puts Bill Gates In Its Crosshairs

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates appeared before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday for a closed-door interview as lawmakers continue their investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and his connections to prominent figures.

The billionaire voluntarily agreed to sit for the transcribed interview, which was conducted by the Republican-led panel chaired by Rep. James Comer, R-Ky.

Gates has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

A spokesperson for Gates said the tech mogul welcomed the opportunity to cooperate with investigators.

“While he never witnessed or participated in any of Epstein’s illegal conduct, he is looking forward to answering all the committee’s questions to support their important work.”

Bill Gates has repeatedly acknowledged that his relationship with the disgraced financier was a mistake.

“Every minute that I spent with him I regret and I apologize that I did that,” Gates told Australia’s 9News earlier this year.

Epstein with Gates (DOJ)

The Microsoft founder met with Epstein several times between 2011 and 2014, years after Epstein pleaded guilty to sex-related charges involving a minor in Florida. Gates has said the meetings were focused on philanthropy and global health initiatives.

The renewed scrutiny comes as House investigators continue examining records tied to Epstein and his dealings with influential figures. Committee Chairman Comer has said the panel’s work is aimed at uncovering information surrounding the late financier’s network and ensuring transparency.

Bill Gates’ appearance before lawmakers marks one of the highest-profile interviews conducted by the committee as it continues its investigation into the Epstein case.

Epstein died in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide.
