NEW: FBI Adds Hundreds Of Analysts To Pivotal 2020 Election Probe In Fulton County

The FBI has directed a surge of resources to a priority investigation centered on the 2020 election in Fulton County, Georgia.

According to an unclassified internal memo issued Wednesday and reported by MS NOW, the Directorate of Intelligence and Criminal Division requested that all FBI field offices immediately surge support to the FBI Atlanta priority investigation.

The memo specified personnel contributions from field offices scaled by office size, resulting in a total of 260 FBI intelligence officials assigned to the effort. It did not specify numbers for FBI agents, though dozens are reported to be working on the investigation.

Each intelligence analyst is expected to complete a total of 708 records checks by July 17. Overtime, including weekends and holidays, has been authorized for the work.

“In support of the Director’s Office priority effort, the Directorate of Intelligence (DI) and Criminal Division are requesting all FBI field offices to immediately surge support to an FBI Atlanta priority investigation,” the memo stated

FBI Director Kash Patel ordered personnel from all field offices to participate in the effort. One U.S. official familiar with the matter described the focus of the analysts’ work as, “looking for derogatory information is the short answer. The idea is to build a case. Look at associations between people, look into their social media, their business activity, travel, contact with other investigative subjects.”

The FBI declined to comment on the memo or the surge.

This personnel increase builds on earlier actions in the same investigation. In January 2026, FBI agents executed a search warrant at a Fulton County election storage facility and seized more than 600 boxes of records related to the 2020 election. The materials included physical ballots, ballot images, voter rolls, and tabulation materials.

The federal investigation originated from a referral sent by Kurt Olsen, then serving as a presidentially appointed White House official overseeing election integrity matters. A timeline released by the Department of Justice following a court order showed that Olsen sent the referral in early January 2026.

The FBI assigned an Atlanta-based special agent to review the matter the following day. Six days later, on January 14, the matter was opened as a full investigation. An investigative summary prepared shortly afterward formed the basis for the search warrant affidavit executed on January 28, 2026.

In connection with the January search, the FBI stated that agents were “executing a court authorized law enforcement action” at the Fulton County Election Hub and Operation Center in Union City, Georgia.

Justice Department officials have stated that they are not pursuing criminal investigations based on the whims of the president.

The investigation concerns records and processes from the 2020 presidential election in Fulton County, where Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump by 11,779 votes. The surge of analysts represents a significant expansion of resources allocated to reviewing records and information connected to the subjects of the ongoing federal inquiry.
