Federal authorities are investigating after a fatal shooting involving ICE prompted a major law enforcement response in Biddeford, Maine, on Monday morning. The shooting reportedly followed an alleged attempt to “ram” agents.
Pool Street was shut down near Hill Street as investigators flooded the area. Maine State Police, the FBI, and the Biddeford Police Crime Scene Unit were all seen at the scene, where numerous evidence markers and two large canopies were set up in the roadway.
Biddeford police confirmed the road closure around 8:15 a.m.
Biddeford Police Chief JoAnn Fisk said the case is not being led by her department. She said Biddeford officers are assisting with the investigation and that all additional information will be released by the FBI and the Maine Attorney General’s Office.

An eyewitness on the scene told the Portland Press Herald that an agent opened fire after an individual attempted to “ram” the agent with a vehicle. Maine House Speaker Ryan Fecteau said Monday morning only that one person had been killed and confirmed ICE was involved in the incident.
“A person was killed. ICE was involved. State Police and the Department of Public Safety are now on scene to gather details and would expect the FBI to investigate as well. These are the details that I have at this time. I will provide further updates, as they are relayed to me.”
A neighbor told local media she was awakened around 8 a.m. by the sound of gunfire before seeing a heavy law enforcement presence move into the neighborhood.
Authorities have not officially revealed how ICE was involved, who was killed, or who fired the shots. The FBI and state investigators are expected to release additional details as the investigation continues.
