REPORT: Jim Acosta Freaked Out, Threatened To Fight Fellow Journalist At DC Party

Former CNN anchor Jim Acosta is at the center of a viral social media clash after independent journalist Michael Tracey claimed Acosta threatened to fight him during a Washington, D.C. party on Saturday night.

The confrontation took place at a Substack-hosted gathering during White House Correspondents’ Dinner weekend, an annual event that draws journalists, political operatives and media personalities from across the country.

Tracey has emerged as an outspoken critic of various conspiracy theories and accusations tied to late sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein and his associates, while Acosta, a longtime detractor of President Donald Trump, has often amplified interest in those allegations on-air and online.

Tracey first made the accusation in a post on X, writing: “Jim @Acosta threatened to fight me tonight at the Substack party.”

Acosta responded with a blunt reply: “That’s because you are trash.”

The feud escalated further when Tracey challenged Acosta to continue the confrontation outside a Washington hotel.

“Still have no idea whatever went on with Trump tonight, just know Jim @Acosta threw a fckin’ hissing fit. Pssy! Jim, meet me in front of the Hampton Inn,” Tracey wrote before posting the hotel’s address.

He later followed up with another message showing a photo of the Hampton Inn, writing: “Jim, I’m literally waiting for you right now, you piece of sh*t.”

Despite the public taunts, no physical altercation was reported and there were no known arrests or police involvement. By Sunday morning, Acosta provided his own version of events, claiming he intervened after witnessing Tracey confront investigative reporter Julie K. Brown.

“We saw what you did at the Substack party. You were bullying @jkbjournalist in a menacing way and would not let her walk away from you. Your behavior was shameful and ugly,” Acosta wrote on X.

“So yes, I stepped in as did several other people, including security, to escort Brown away from you.” Brown later thanked those who assisted her during the incident.

“No one should give someone a platform to attack and harass people, even if you disagree with them,” she wrote.

She later added that Acosta “was a true gentleman who came to my aid last night after Tracey began screaming and blocking me from trying to leave the event.”

Brown also alleged that several men had to physically stand between her and Tracey to prevent him from following her. Tracey has not backed down from his version of events and continued mocking Acosta online after the party.

Acosta, known for his combative history with Trump, and Tracey, known for criticizing mainstream media narratives, now find themselves in a fresh and highly personal feud that spilled from an elite D.C. party straight onto the internet.
