Former NFL offensive lineman Jordan Devey, who won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots, has died by suicide, his family confirmed.
He was 38.
Devey’s family announced his death through a GoFundMe campaign posted this week, saying the tragedy left “his family to navigate an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time.”
Devey won Super Bowl XLIX with the Patriots after joining New England in 2013 and appearing in six games during the 2014 season.
The former offensive lineman later played for the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland and Las Vegas Raiders, and Buffalo Bills.
After his NFL career, Devey settled in Idaho and had recently been coaching at Eagle High School.
The GoFundMe said Devey “was a cherished member of the Eagle community, known for his unwavering dedication to serving others.”
“He was a devoted husband to Linsey and a loving father to their four children. Jordan spent countless hours volunteering as a coach for his own children’s teams and for the athletes at Eagle High School, where he was deeply loved by the players who saw him as a mentor, role model, and friend,” the GoFundMe said.
“His commitment to uplifting those around him extended far beyond sports, as he faithfully served in his church, offering support, counsel, and friendship to anyone in need.”
Devey’s date of death was not immediately known.
His widow, Linsey Devey, posted an emotional Instagram tribute earlier this week on what would have been their 15th wedding anniversary.
“We have filled the walls of our homes and hearts with countless memories, joys, struggles, and triumphs. We brought 4 beautiful children into this world that have your eyes, freckles, and compassion. You were our hero and our hearts ache in your absence. We love you. We miss you. And as you said in your last words to me, ‘we’ll talk soon,’” Linsey wrote, alongside photos of herself by his bedside in the hospital and another from their wedding.

Devey had not posted on Instagram since June 1.
His football path was not the polished, first-round story fans often hear on draft night.
After playing at Memphis, Devey went undrafted in 2013 and began his NFL career on the Baltimore Ravens practice squad.
The Patriots picked him up later that year, and he fought his way onto the roster.

In 2014, he started four regular-season games and appeared in six for a New England team that went on to beat the Seattle Seahawks in one of the most dramatic Super Bowls in NFL history.
Devey was later traded to the 49ers before spending three seasons with the Chiefs.
He finished his career with the Raiders and Bills.
Across his NFL career, Devey appeared in 44 regular-season games and started 21.
He also holds a rare distinction in league history.
Devey is the only player known to have blocked for Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
That is a brutal reminder of how quickly the spotlight moves on in professional sports.
One year, a player is protecting all-time quarterbacks on Sundays.
Later, he is back in a local community, coaching kids, serving his church and trying to build a quieter life away from the cameras.
Devey’s death has left that community grieving along with his family.
His legacy will not be limited to a Super Bowl ring or a line on an NFL roster.
It will also be carried by the children he coached, the players who saw him as a mentor and the family now facing a loss no trophy can soften.
