NASHVILLE – A Tennessee Democratic state senator made a fool of herself on the Senate floor this week, yanking a protest banner in a pathetic tug-of-war with the Sergeant at Arms. The sign screamed “NO JIM CROW 2 STOP THE STEAL” as lawmakers debated a new congressional map that finally delivers fair representation to the Volunteer State.
The map passed and wipes out the state’s only Democrat-held U.S. House seat. It redraws the heavily Black Memphis district long occupied by Rep. Steve Cohen, turning Tennessee’s delegation into a clean 9-0 Republican sweep. Good riddance to rigged leftovers from previous gerrymanders that let Democrats punch above their weight in a solidly red state.

Republicans did exactly what voters elected them to do: draw compact, competitive districts that reflect actual population and political reality. Democrats responded with the usual hysteria, packing the Capitol with protesters and invoking tired “Jim Crow” smears. Funny how they only cry foul when their safe seats get carved up.
This isn’t voter suppression. It’s basic math and democracy. Tennessee hasn’t sent a Democrat to Congress since 2022 for a reason – the state’s not buying what they’re selling. While left-wing activists clutch their pearls and play victim, conservatives are delivering results: secure borders, strong economies, and maps that don’t artificially prop up a dying party.
