President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that the Republican Party will hold what he described as its first-ever midterm convention, a two-day event in Dallas, Texas, that he said will celebrate his administration’s accomplishments and promote the party’s agenda heading into the 2026 midterm elections.
The announcement came in a post on Truth Social, where Trump said the convention will take place on September 9 and 10 and feature what he called a “Historic Event” unlike anything the Republican Party has held before.
“BIG NEWS! For the first time ever, the Republican Party will hold a MIDTERM CONVENTION,” Trump wrote. “It will be in Dallas, Texas — One of my favorite places in the World. It will be fantastic! It has never been done before, and will be a truly Historic Event.”
Trump said the convention will focus on what he called the “Great American Comeback” and the accomplishments of his administration’s America First agenda.
Among the achievements he highlighted were his administration’s “NO TAX ON TIPS, NO TAX ON OVERTIME, NO TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY, STRONGER BORDERS, SAFEST EVER COMMUNITIES, LOWER COSTS AND REAL AFFORDABILITY, MORE JOBS, AMERICAN ENERGY DOMINANCE, AND SO MUCH MORE!”
The president also pointed to recent developments involving energy prices and foreign policy.
“Oil Prices are dropping sharply, even as we Denuclearize Iran,” Trump wrote. “We are delivering on the promises that politicians talked about for decades, but never got done.”
According to Trump, the Dallas event will feature Americans from a wide range of industries and professions, including business leaders, innovators, manufacturers and first responders.
“At the Event, we will have hardworking Americans, our Great Innovators, Entrepreneurs, Manufacturers, First Responders, and Job Creators who are powering our Nation’s Golden Age, and proving that America’s best days are still ahead of us,” he said.
Trump added that the gathering will include entertainment in addition to political programming.
“We will also have lots of Great Entertainment — It will be a RALLY like none other!” he wrote.
The event is expected to take place as Republicans prepare for the 2026 midterm elections, with control of Congress expected to be a central focus of the campaign season. Midterm elections traditionally serve as a referendum on the sitting president’s administration and often play a major role in determining the balance of power in Washington.
Trump also tied the convention to the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary, saying it would serve as part of a broader celebration of the country’s future.
“America’s 250th Birthday is approaching, and together, we are building the foundation for the NEXT 250 YEARS of American Greatness,” he wrote. “Dallas will take center stage on September 9th and 10th as we celebrate our Nation, our achievements, and our bright future.”
He concluded the announcement by declaring, “THE GOLDEN AGE OF AMERICA HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN!”
Additional details about the convention, including the venue, schedule, speakers and ticket information, have not yet been announced. The Republican National Committee is expected to release more information in the coming weeks as preparations for the September event continue.
