Trump Announces Surprise Reversal On Planned Iran Strikes

President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he has canceled a planned round of U.S. military strikes against Iran after negotiations with the Iranian regime reportedly advanced to the highest levels of leadership and received approval from all parties involved.

In a statement posted to Truth Social on Thursday, Trump said discussions surrounding a potential agreement had reached a breakthrough, prompting him to halt military action that had been scheduled for later in the day.

“Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved, I have, as President of the United States of America, cancelled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran this evening,” Trump wrote.

The announcement marks a dramatic development in the rapidly evolving crisis that has gripped the Middle East in recent months. The United States has conducted multiple rounds of military operations against Iranian targets in recent days following escalating hostilities between the two nations.

According to Trump, negotiators have now reached agreement on both the broad framework and detailed provisions of a proposed deal. He stated that all major regional stakeholders have signed off on the discussions.

“Discussions and final points have been, in both concept and great detail, approved by all parties involved,” Trump wrote.

The president listed the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Egypt among the nations supporting the arrangement. Trump added that additional countries were also involved in the process.

While military strikes have been called off for the time being, Trump indicated that pressure on Iran will continue until a final agreement is formally completed. He announced that the naval blockade currently in place against Iran will remain active throughout the final stages of negotiations.

“The Naval Blockade will remain in full force and effect until this Transaction is finalized,” Trump stated.

The president did not provide details on the specific terms of the agreement, nor did he reveal what concessions were made by either side. He also did not identify where or when a final signing ceremony will take place.

“Time and place of the signing to be announced shortly,” Trump concluded.

The announcement comes after days of heightened tensions and military activity in the region. U.S. forces have carried out a series of strikes against Iranian military infrastructure, while the Trump administration has repeatedly demanded that Tehran accept conditions related to regional security, missile development and other longstanding disputes.

Financial markets and energy traders have closely monitored the conflict due to concerns about disruptions to shipping routes and global oil supplies. Any formal agreement could have significant implications for regional stability and international energy markets.

Iranian officials have not yet publicly commented on Trump’s announcement, and no joint statement from participating nations had been released as of Thursday morning.

More details are expected to emerge in the coming hours as governments involved in the negotiations provide additional information regarding the proposed agreement and the path toward a formal signing.
