President Donald Trump reportedly had another heated, profanity-laced phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after Israeli forces carried out strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon on Sunday. The strikes — which Israel claims were carried out in self-defense — came just hours ahead of Trump’s anticipated deadline for an agreement with Iran.
Israeli forces on Sunday conducted airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut’s southern suburbs, known as Dahiyeh. Lebanese authorities reported at least three people killed and others wounded in the operation.
Israel described the action as a targeted response to Hezbollah firing three projectiles toward northern Israel, which it characterized as a ceasefire violation. “The IDF has now attacked terrorist targets of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the Dahiyeh neighborhood of Beirut, in response to Hezbollah’s firing into Israeli territory,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a joint statement.
Strikes on Beirut, particularly its southern suburbs — a Hezbollah stronghold — have become a point of contention in ongoing U.S.negotiations with Iran. Iran has previously indicated that major Israeli actions in the Lebanese capital cross a “red line” that would be met with
President Trump publicly and privately criticized the timing and scale of the Israeli action. In comments to Axios correspondent Barak Ravid, Trump expressed strong disapproval.
“It is so bad, I couldn’t believe it. An hour before we are supposed to sign the deal. I was so pissed off. I let him know. He has no fu**ing judgement. I let him know that,” the president told Ravid.
Trump also questioned the necessity of the actions. “Why did Bibi have to do a fu**ing attack?” and “Hezbollah fired and hit the middle of nowhere. And then he had to do this fu**ing attack — and in Beirut. It made me very angry.” He then reiterated that Netanyahu “has no fu**ing judgment.”

On Truth Social, Trump wrote that the strike “should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran.” He acknowledged Israel’s right to defend itself but noted the preceding Hezbollah action was “very small and meaningless, nobody was hurt, injured, or killed, and should not disrupt this important process.”
The president went on to emphasize calls for restraint. “There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel.”
He added, “We are very close to a Deal that will bring peace to the region, including to Lebanon… This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace — Let’s not blow it!”
As of this report, negotiations for a U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding remain active but delayed by the day’s events. Trump indicated the signing, originally anticipated for Sunday, was pushed back by a few hours and still expected soon.
The agreement is understood to address de-escalation, including in Lebanon, reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and steps related to Iran’s nuclear program. Iranian officials have expressed reservations and indicated a response to the Beirut strikes could follow, while both sides continue to describe a deal as close.
