Bongino Reveals The Truth About What Happened In The FBI

Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino is speaking out about his time inside the bureau, delivering a warning about what he claims to have uncovered — and the personal toll it has taken on him.

In a sit down with Sean Hannity, Bongino said his experience inside the FBI changed him permanently, leaving him fearful for his safety and convinced that powerful forces could retaliate against him.

“I will never be the same,” Bongino said. “I’m being as serious as a stroke right now. I’m scared, man. I know what I did. And I’m proud of my work.”

“I promise you, everything I did, I did with a dotted I and a crossed T,” he continued. “Everything was by the book. I’m confident in that.”

Still, he warned that following the rules may not be enough protection, pointing to what he described as past treatment of political figures, including President Donald Trump.

“They’ll rewrite the book just like they did for President Trump,” Bongino said, referencing past investigations and controversies surrounding the Russia probe.

One of the most striking claims Bongino made involved what he described as a “mother lode” of documents tied to the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation into alleged ties between Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia. According to Bongino, the material he encountered was far more serious than anticipated.

“What I saw was ten times worse than I expected,” he told Hannity, adding that he believes some of the documents were never meant to be discovered and may have been at risk of being destroyed.

While Bongino did not publicly release the documents, he suggested that recent developments and emerging cases are connected to what he uncovered during his tenure.

“I know what I started. I know what I laid out,” he said. “And I know you saw a lot of these cases coming out over the past few days.”

Bongino also raised concerns about what he described as a divided agency, claiming there are effectively “two FBIs” operating under different standards. In his view, one side adheres to traditional law enforcement principles, while another operates under a different set of rules — a dynamic he suggested contributed to internal dysfunction and public mistrust.

Perhaps most striking were Bongino’s comments about his personal fears moving forward, particularly if political power changes hands in Washington.

“I say to my wife all the time — you don’t think on election night, if we lose, it’s not going through my head?” he said. “They’re going to come for me.”

He added that his concerns stem partly from what he believes happened during prior investigations tied to the Trump administration, including the Russia probe, often referred to by critics as the “Russia hoax.”

“I was never the same after that,” Bongino said. “Not a single person stopped them.”

Bongino also addressed security issues, pointing to the recent shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner as evidence that more resources are needed to protect high-profile officials. He argued that vulnerabilities in security protocols remain a serious concern, particularly in a politically charged environment.

Despite his concerns, Bongino maintained that he does not regret his actions, framing his work as necessary and justified.

“It’s not a sob story,” he said. “I knew what I was getting into.”

Still, his message was clear: what he claims to have uncovered inside the FBI carries consequences — both for the country and for himself.

“I think about it every day,” Bongino said. “And that’s what’s really sad.”
